Cremation Options

When a family chooses cremation, they have many options for honoring and remembering the deceased. One special way to honor a loved one is by choosing a meaningful location to place the remains—a location that exemplifies the spirit, and celebrates the life of the individual.

Here are some of the more common choices for the final placement of cremated remains:

  • A cemetery – Families can bury the urn on the family plot, place the urn in a columbarium niche, or scatter the remains at a cemetery’s memorial gardens.
  • Permanent Possession – Family members may want to keep the remains at home or in a private garden. Decorative urns, custom containers, memorial chests, jewelry, and other keepsakes are available for this purpose.
  • Scattering – Cremation allows for complete or partial scattering on land, over water, or in more than one location (certain local laws and ordinances apply).
